Seersucker Ride 2012

Picnic at Oakland Cemetery.

The weather was extremely pleasant.

And there was also plenty of shade for all.

Nikki and her bike, customized by her boyfriend with some retro flair.

Nikki and her boyfriend, Justin. Nothing says l'amour like matching tires and baskets.

The committee concerned about everything, as usual.

Me and Brown Betty.

This is Jeffrey who I met once before in his sporty spandex--he cleans up nicely.
This striking vehicle belongs to the accordian player. Some of us figured the flamingo lights up.

Jonathan and Kelly.

Todd and Lopa.

A chic lady and her dapper Boston Terrier.

Some folks in their Sunday best and some folks serious about their day of rest.

Sunday marked the 2012 Seersucker Ride and it was a beautiful day for it. I appreciated the temperate weather and my generous fellow picnickers. They were gracious enough to let me take pictures and share their repast. I caught up with the ride at its destination since I only decided to go at the last minute. Much much planing is required to use the metro area's public transit on the weekends.

After the ride, I checked out the historical sites in the cemetery and met a documentarian who noticed the Seersucker Ride and wondered if it signified a movement of some kind. Of course, I answered, "Yes," and he ended up conducting an interview of me which I will post very soon. How about that?! The Seersucker Ride got cycling noticed in all sorts of way this year. Kudos to Kyle, Indra, Nikki, Gareth, and Phillip for putting together a splendid ride year after year. I look forward to what they have in the works for the winter!
